Parks Computers: iPhone 4 Review

Parks Computers review of the Apple’s iPhone 4. I was a Android user for more than a year and half. Starting with the Motorola Droid then upgrading to the Motorola Droid 2. I liked the Android operating system. I liked the ability to customize the software. I didn’t like the phone locking up all the time. I didn’t like the music app, I also didn’t like the inability to uninstall apps that Verizon preinstalled (Apple does the same thing).   I didn’t like just after a few months dust got under the screen of my Droid 2. I use my phone a lot for eMail, Twitter, Facebook and listening to Podcast. Now after having my iPhone for 8 days I can say I like the phone. Compared to the Droid 2 the iPhone hasn’t locked up once. Also the iPhone did come with preinstalled apps from Apple which I can’t delete which I do not understand why. The iPhone is unable to download podcast at a preset time. Also it has to be on Wifi to download music, video, or podcast over 20mg. The Droid 2 could do this anytime I set it.  Also the iPhone doesn’t allow me to have a select phone number to ring even if the phone is muted.  Now the iPhone does have a killer music player.  The droid 2 music player would forget what I was listening to.  Also it wasn’t designed for a touch screen.  The stop or pause button is just under the bar to set where you want to start playing.  Which meens many times you lose your place in the podcast.  The iPhone has find my iPhone (for free) and remote erase of your iPhone if you lose it.  For me that is the biggest thing,  I don’t like having my eMail, twitter and so on passwords available for anyone to find if I lose my phone.  Also the iPhone has the 10 times password try then erase.  Also very big for me.  The iPhone doesnt’ come with a turn by turn GPS navigation for free like my droid 2 did but it does offer for a low price TomTom or Garmin option.  Which I feel pretty good about because they update it often and both are good names in the business.  The next Android problem is the manufacturers not keeping up with Google’s updates.  My Droid 2 came with Froyo version 2.2.  Gingerbread version 2.3 came out and nothing from Motorola.  HTC even spoke about version 2.4 so I bet the Droid and Droid 2 users will be left behind.  At least when Apple releases the next version of IOS they release it for the older phones.  I don’t like being left behind when the Droid 2 is only 6 months old.  I think both of these platforms are great.  Apple keeps a heavy hand on the iPhone.  I don’t like this because it is there phone not mine.  Google doesn’t push hard enough and you have fifty phones under six months with 4 different version of the software.  Over all I was able to sell my Droid 2 to Gazelle.com for $159.00.  The price was $189.00 plus a coupon I had but because of the dust under the screen they dropped it to $159.00.  Over all I am happy I upgraded to the iPhone.  I wonder what Apple will release in June or July and what new enhancements will come with IOS5.  Would I recommend you upgrade now or wait?  If you want to get a iPhone and have a old phone you want to sell before you purchase it then go to Gazelle.com and sell your phone fast and buy an Iphone 4.   If not wait until June or July for the iPhone 5.

Parks Computers Support Notes:  If you have version 12 or higher you can download and install the upgrade version.  If you have any other Parks Computers software please close and uninstall it.  Then click the download link and download and install the full version.  The 1st  problem reported is Parks Computers Support Alerts doesn’t close so you can upgrade.  If this happens right click on the PC icon by your clock and click close.  Then run the setup again.  2nd problem reported is when you upgrade to Microsoft Security Essentials v2 the run button doesn’t work in Parks System Upkeep.  This is because Microsoft changed the name of the application.  To fix this open Parks System Upkeep and click setup.  Then click Anti-Virus at the top then drag the new Microsoft Security Icon in the box.  If you are running a 64-Bit edition of Windows Vista or Windows 7 then you will have to click the Edit Path button by the Anti-Virus Location and copy and paste this in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Security Client\msseces.exe then click save button and your Parks System Upkeep will start working again.    Please remember Parks Computers Support is supported for free so if you have any problems give us a call.

UpgradeParks Computers Support (v12.6.4)

Upgrade CCleaner (v3.01.1327)

Parks Computers Notes:  Parks Computers Support release notes, If you have Parks Computers Support version 12 or higher you can click the link above and download and install the upgrade version.  If you have version 11 or lower, Parks Services, Parks Insider or Parks Insider Live uninstall it and download and install the full version.  This update fixes the problem that has been around since the first version of Parks Computers Support.  Parks Computers Support software checks Parks Computers website for information.  If for some reason the software is unable to get the information it is looking for it is suppose to stop.   But certain servers, firewalls or parental controls would send back weird messages instead of just saying nothing.  So after this update if the data is not exactly what is needed no matter what message is sent back Parks Computers Support will check again later for the correct data.  CCleaner release notes, click the link above and install the new version.  You do not have to uninstall the old version.
